Volunteer Opportunities

If you are interested in learning more about any of the committees listed below, please contact the executive board.  Generally, a sign-up for the committee will be posted a month or two prior to the event.  There are opportunities to volunteer during the school day, after school hours, or even from home! 

School Store

Several schoold stores are held throughout the year. Volunteers are needed to set-up and help the children with their purchases. Sales take place during school hours.

Tricky Tray Committee

Help us make our tricky tray a wildly successful event!  The Tricky Tray is our primary fundraiser of the year and there are many, many opportunities to be a part of it.  We will need assistance with securing donations, picking-up donations, making baskets, organizing the event, setting up the day-off, selling tickets during the event, and running baskets to the winners.  There are opportunities for day, evening and at-home assistance.  

Mother's Day Plant Sale

Sale occurs for two days during the month of May during school hours. Volunteers needed to unload the truck and distribute pre-sale plants, set-up for the in school sale, and to help students with their purchases.

5th Grade Activities

Is your child in 5th Grade? Did you know there are several different activities the PTA sets up just for them? 

Come join the committee and be a part of their last year at our school.

Fall Festival

This a family event held in the Fall after school featuring a pumpkin patch, petting zoo, pony rides, dj, games and snacks! The Fall Festival Chair(s) hire the vendors and generally organizes the day. Volunteers are needed to monitor the games, sell concessions and for set-up and clean-up.  

Bingo 

There are two different Bingo Sessions K-2 and 3-5 held after school in late winter. Volunteers are needed for set up, work the prize table, and to assist the students.

Box Tops

Box Tops earn money for our school and is now done through an app (no more cutting, pasting and mailing!). A volunteer helps monitor our account and promote the program. 

Field Day

Filed Day is one of the most anticipated events for any Voorhees Student.  This is a one day during school event organized by our amazing physical education teachers. The PTA helps man a water station, assists teachers in rotating the classes to each event, and coordinates shaved ice a truck for the kids. 

Class Parents/Helpers

Class Parents are in charge of all three class parties (Halloween, holiday, and end-of-year) and is the liason between the PTA and class teacher. Class parents organize a craft/activity, games, and snacks for each party. Each class may have a max of two class parents and two class helpers (no more that four parents may be inside the classroom at any time). The class parents are responsible for handling the class party money (each student donates $15 at the beginning of the year) and ensuring the funds are used responsibly. 


  Beautification    

The beautification committee mainly tends to the four planters at the front of the school.  The front of our school is the first thing people see when they come in; let's make it beautiful! 

Food Bank

Food is collected twice a year with all proceeds being donated to the Old Bridge Food Bank.  Volunteer(s) will be responsible for collection and distribution to the Food Bank as well as promoting the collections to the school.

Halloween Castle

Volunteers are needed on the day of the Halloween Parade to help decorate the cafeteria.

Hospitality

Volunteers are needed to set up snacks and beverages for each PTA Meeting.

Ice Cream Social

A big ice cream party held after school hours during the beginning of the school year. The Chair of this event is responsible for ordering and picking-up the ice cream and supplies. Volunteers are needed to help set- up, scoop ice cream and clean-up.

Book Fair

The Scholastic Book Fair is a favorite for Voorhees students and is held twice a year. Volunteers are needed for set-up, breakdown and to help students pick out books and make purchases. This event is during school hours and during the Ice Cream Social in the Fall.

Fun Nights

Two Fun Nights are held each Spring for grades K-2 and 3-5. These are afterschool, drop-off events. The Chair(s) of this event plans and coordinates the evening. Volunteers are needed for set- up and to chaperone.

Teacher Appreciation Week

Our way of showing our AWESOME teachers how much we appreciate them. This is a week-long event each May where teachers are treated to a variety of treats each day; breakfast, lunch, snacks and a gift. Volunteers are needed for set-up and clean-up each day. The PTA will also request specific food donations.

Family Pasta Pary

Who doesn't love pasta?! This evening event is for the entire family. The Chair is responsible for ordering the food and supplies and arranging delivery.  Volunteers are needed to serve.
